Book Bingo for Adults

It's not too late to join in the fun...Book Bingo, a summer reading challenge for adults!

For Somers library patrons (over 18.)
Each registrant will receive a free book for participating (while supplies last.) One entry per person please.
Fill out a registration form and give to the reference librarian. Receive a game card to take home and keep until you have completed your Book Bingo card.
Put an 'X' through each completed square on the game card. Try to get a 'Bingo' by completing a full row in any direction. Keep track of all the books you have read, etc. on the back of the game card.
All game cards must be returned on or before August 31st.
Once you have completed and turned in your game card, you will be entered into a raffle for a grand prize drawing (Kindle Fire.) So go ahead - have fun, try something different, and join with children and teens in summer reading. Who knows...you might be a lucky winner!

Yoga to Feed Your Mind and Body

Yoga is used as a means for increased health, strength and flexibility, especially of the spine. This is accomplished primarily through a series of physical postures called 'asanas' which fall under the category of yoga known as Hatha yoga, as well as various deep breathing exercises called 'pranayama'. Pranayama induces a feeling of calm and peace while oxygenating the blood and teaching people to breathe more deeply. Americans, in particular, tend to be shallow breathers, which is probably due to the mostly sedentary life style that many of us have.  The library has a wealth of material about yoga including books and DVDs.
